The fact is that southern Spain is not all that well off for  " detached house with enough room for a pool not far from a village". That´s a style  which is more common in France, or the wetter, Northern parts of Spain. In the south, the concept of a pleasure garden is quite alien.  So, as they say, "if tha wants owt doin´do it thissen" could be an option.
